| This noted collection of 18th and 19th century
American representational art and rare books commissioned Aaron Parker
to create new quarters for them on 57th Street in Manhattan. The project
carved the 5000-square-foot space into two distinct realms: a rotunda
for viewing the art; and smaller, bookcase-lined rooms that accommodate
the bookstore. The design clarified two ways of seeing: representational
art is viewed at once; the narrative in books unfolds over time. The
program included custom-designed furniture, storage space, and strict
humidity and temperature controls. |
