| New House Types
for Minnesota Neighborhoods |
| Moderate-income Minnesotans in the Twin Cities
metro are faced with a serious housing dilemma. Many either spend
hours commuting between city jobs and their affordable homes in the
sprawling exurbs or settle for lower-amenity housing crammed into
freeway buffer zones. A Minnesota legislative committee commissioned
us to design an array of market-rate multi-unit housing types to encourage
sustainable development near population centers. After intensive research,
we delivered several building concepts that provide a high degree
of privacy and views to outdoor surroundings on a compact site. The
layouts designed for these apartment homes, town homes and detached
urban homes allow them to be developed within convenient walking distance
of shops, food and services in neighborhoods and commercial corridors. |
