Inwood Mews Project
| New York, NY
|
| The Inwood Mews, located at the northern end of
Manhattan island, is an unusual response to the constant demand for
housing in an urban neighborhood with no readily developable land.
Inwood's long, steep slope to the Hudson River offers a rare vantage,
and postwar developers erected stately apartment blocks thrust over
the drop-off on massive piers. Aaron Parker proposed a highly adaptive
design to fill the void beneath the apartments with housing and retail.
