Restructuring | Portland, ME
|
| Facing the pressure to trim facilities while realigning the boundaries of its K-8 school district, a Portland task force commissioned a restructuring plan. Working with local architects Semple & Drane and the school district, we led the urban design study and public process that outlined the impacts of several scenarios on neighborhoods. We then followed up with solutions, enabling tough decisions to be made with community approval. As a result of this work, the Portland School District passed its bond referendum in a year that saw all other school referenda in Maine voted down. |
